Jin Komuro is a physician-scientist and group leader at the Institute for Cardiovascular Regeneration at Goethe University Frankfurt. He trained as a cardiologist in Japan and obtained his PhD from Keio University, where his research focused on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of heart failure, particularly the role of non-cardiomyocytes in disease progression. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at The University of Tokyo, expanding his work on intercellular and multi-organ interactions in heart failure.
In 2026, he joined the Dimmeler Group at Goethe University Frankfurt, where his current research focuses on the cardiac neurovascular unit and how interactions between nerves and vascular cells contribute to cardiac ageing and heart failure. His long-term goal is to uncover previously unrecognized mechanisms of intercellular communication in the heart and translate these insights into new therapeutic strategies for heart failure.
